1. Wear clothes that fit.
Have you ever worn shoes that were too tight? What was the nagging thought that you had all day long? That’s right. You couldn’t stop thinking about your feet not fitting in those shoes and how uncomfortable it was. If you wear clothes that don’t fit, your body not fitting will be on your mind all day. And how can we ever be truly comfortable in our current bodies when we are physically uncomfortable? We can’t. Clothes are made to fit our bodies, we do not need to change our bodies to fit into clothes.
2. Move in ways that feel good to your current body.
Do you love walking outside? Does yoga make you feel strong? Do you like lifting weights with your BFF? Does cycling make you feel alive? Practice any form of movement that feels good to you in this body. Not only will you become more in touch with your body, you will see all the amazing things that your body can do. This can lead to greater body appreciation and hopefully greater comfort.
3. Edit your social media feeds.
Are you following people with diverse body shapes and sizes? Are you following people who look like you? Following a diverse group of people and people who look like you can help you normalize and accept your current body as well as expose you to all body shapes and sizes. Unfollow anyone who makes you feel bad about your body, even if you like them as a person. It is important to protect your own mental and emotional wellbeing.
